Work and Travel USA History
Work and Travel USA started out as a travel and tourism program. It was founded in the 60s by the US State Department as part of a series of programs designed especially for foreigners to have a taste of the infamous American lifestyle.
Young people from all over the world were attracted by the idea of traveling, earning money and experiencing a different culture. One of the most interesting aspects for participants is the ability to share cultural elements and values and to make new friends.
Designed as a cultural exchange program for students, Work and Travel USA is the perfect opportunity to travel, to meet new people and experience different cultures and so, creating an unforgettable experience.
Requirements
to be a full-time student at a state or private university accredited by the Ministry of Education; Master and PhD students are also accepted
to have a relatively good school situation
to understand and speak English at a conversational level

Work and Travel USA Credit
BRD offers you the Work and Travel USA Credit option, specifically designed to cover the costs of your participation in this program:
- the program fee through the partner company (the Work and Travel agency)
- visa fees
- SEVIS fee
- the cost of the plane ticket
- pocket money up to the first salary
The credit is flexible depending on the duration of the Work and Travel program:
- the credit value is determined by taking into account the revenue you will receive
- the credit repayment plan is for a maximum of 15 months
- you benefit from a grace period of up to 14 months, in which you only pay interest and the monthly management fee for the account
In addition…
- you can reimburse the full credit at the end of your grace period
- to get rid of all worries, you have the possibility to automatically repay it from your current USD / EUR account opened at BRD
- it is easy to obtain in any BRD unit.
The credit is between 250 USD/200 Euro and 5,000 USD/4,000 Euro. BRD makes your money available directly to your current USD/EUR account on favorable terms, with preferential interest and without any complicated formalities.
Steps to follow:
- fill in the registration form
- get a student certificate with the mention “For Work and Travel” from the faculty secretary
- pay the registration fee, choose where you want to go and the type of job
- sign the contract with your employer and pay the rest of the program fees
- show up at your appointment at the US Embassy interview with the file we have drawn up
- buy the plane ticket and attend a free orientation seminar where you will find out all you need to know about your journey
- go to USA, have fun, earn money and make new friends from all around the world.
